Toyota Racing has just announced more details of its participation in the World Endurance Championship FIA, including its intention to follow the race the two cars in the race. Toyota Racing plans to enroll two TS030 HYBRID cars in the next Le Mans 24 Hours (2012, June 16 to 17). Meanwhile, participation in the next round will be confirmed again.
Three driver Alex Wurz, Nicolas Lapierre and Kazuki Nakajima
has confirmed to drive the car while discussions take place to complete the
driver line up for the others. Additionally, Toyota Racing just got a new
junior driver, he is Andrea Caldarelli from Pescara, Italy.
HYBRID TS030 series is the continuation of the Toyota TS010
and TS020 and iconic cars that participated in the event of a successful Le
Mans in the era of the 1990s. The initials TS have the meanings ToyotaSport.
R-THS (Toyota Hybrid System - Racing) powertain designed to
deliver maximum performance. In this system, there are features all-new 3.4
liter V8 petrol engine and hybrid system with the storage capacitor being
developed by an official partner of Toyota, namely Nisshinbo.
The test team will conduct its first test in HYBRID TS030 to
evaluate the benefits. In the current regulations, the motor system
manufactured by Aisin AW front, while the rear motor system developed by a team
official partner Denso. The regulation imposes limits on hybrid systems for the
recovery of a maximum of 500 kJ between the braking zones while limiting the
spread of only two wheels.
During exclusive test session in the French track, including
the walk in darkness, HYBRID TS030 completed several hundred kilometers by
showing an impressive increase in terms of reliability and performance for the
initial stage in this car testing program.
Alex Wurz and Nicolas Lapierre HYBRID TS030 put through its
paces at the Paul Richard, they are in a team with a 30-year-old driver,
Hiroaki Ishiura from Japan who is a candidate to join the driver line-up at the
race in which Toyota Racing participated with two cars .
